Abstract

The Physics Department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was founded in 1865 and has produced the largest numbers of undergraduate and doctoral degrees in physics of any American university. Over 25 Nobel Laureates of Physics have had a connection to MIT with four winning for work done at MIT.
