Biography

Abstract

Ernest Rutherford was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908, "for his investigations into the disintegration of the elements, and the chemistry of radioactive substances." Rutherford was tremendously influential in the fields of chemistry and physics; he advised many future Nobel Prize winners and significant scientists, such as James Chadwick, Niels Bohr and Otto Hahn. Throughout his career, he worked at McGill University, University of Manchester, and at the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge.
