Biography

Abstract

John Cockcroft was a nuclear physicist at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment. He and Ernest T.S. Walton were jointly awarded the 1951 Nobel Prize in Physics "for their pioneer work on the transmutation of atomic nuclei by artificially accelerated atomic particles."
