Biography

Abstract

Harold Urey was Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at University of California, San Diego (1970-1981). Other institutional affiliations included University of Chicago, Columbia University, and Johns Hopkins University. His research interests included entropy of gases, atomic structure, absorption spectra and structure of molecules, discovery of deuterium, properties and separation of isotopes, exchange reactions, measurement of paleotemperature, and chemical problems of the origin of the earth, meteorites, moon and solar system.
