Biography

Abstract

James Conant was a chemist and President of Harvard University (1933-1953). He was also the first United States Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany (1955-1957). His research interests included chlorophyll, the biochemistry of oxyhemoglobin, and acid-base chemistry.
