Abstract

Jan Tauc was L. Herbert Ballou University Professor of Engineering and Physics at Brown University (1970-1992). Other institutional affiliations include Bell Laboratories, Charles University (Prague) and the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. His early research was in photovoltaic, thermoelectric, and optical properties of crystalline semiconductors. Later, he researched amorphous semiconductors and metals.
