Biography

Abstract

Frank Spitzer was Professor of Mathematics at Cornell University (1961-1992). Other institutional affiliations included University of Minnesota and California Institute of Technology. His research interests included probability, and he developed fluctuation theory, the potential theory of random walk, and part of the theory of interacting particle systems.
