Institutional History

Abstract

Founded in 1962 as a joint institute of the University of Colorado Boulder and National Bureau of Standards (now National Institute of Standards and Technology). It is located on the University of Colorado Boulder campus. The Laboratory's research quickly expanded beyond astrophysics to include topics such as atomic, molecular and optical physics, biophysics, quantum information, precision measurement, and others.
