Biography

Abstract

Johannes Diderik van der Waals was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1910 "for his work on the equation of state for gases and liquids." Throughout the majority of his career, he held a position at the University of Amsterdam, where he was the first Professor of Physics.
