Biography

Abstract

Physicist. Professor of Physics at Stanford University since 1961 and executive head of the Physics Department, 1966-1970; at Bell Laboratories, 1951-1961. Schawlow is best known for his work on lasers, and received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1981.
