Institutional History

Abstract

Created in 1967 after the Carnegie Institute of Technology and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research merged to form Carnegie-Mellon University. The department has grown into an outstanding research department with research being done in various areas including surface physics, biophysics, nanophysics, astrophysics, and cosmology.
