Abstract

The Physics Department at the State University of New York at Stony Brook was founded in the early days of the University. Astronomy joined the department in 1997 after it separated from Geology. Today the Department offers a diverse program and shares faculty with the CN Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, and the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology.
