Abstract

Martinus Veltman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1999 with Gerardus ‘t Hooft "for elucidating the quantum structure of electroweak interactions in physics." Veltman held positions at CERN, the University of Utrecht, and the University of Michigan.

1956Volunteered to take lecture notes for Leon Van Hove, University of Utretcht (Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht), Utrecht (Netherlands).

1956Obtained MS in Theoretical Physics, University of Utrecht (Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht), Utrecht (Netherlands).

1959Began PhD studies under direction of Leon Van Hove after serving in the military, University of Utretcht (Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht), Utrecht (Netherlands).

1961Graduate Fellow, CERN, where he continued to work with Van Hove, Geneva (Switzerland).
