Eduard, Mileva, and Hans Einstein, 1914. The
marriage had long been deteriorating. Soon after joining Albert
in Berlin, Mileva returned to Switzerland with their sons. Thereafter
he saw them only intermittently. Einstein confessed that he was
"not a family man. I want my peace."
