Einstein with his second wife, Elsa, and her daughter
Einstein enjoyed flirting with female admirers, and a few times he had more passionate affairs. Elsa, despite bouts of jealousy and loneliness, guided him through his daily routines like a mother caring for a thoughtless child. After Elsa's death in 1936, her daughter Margot (right) joined Einstein's secretary in the task of protecting Einstein from intrusions and helping him cope with everyday life.
