Nils Gustaf Galén was an applied mechanical engineer at Swedish Gas-Accumulator Co., Lidingö-Stockholm, Sweden. He studied at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. He was awarded the 1912 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his invention of automatic regulators for use in conjunction with gas accumulators for illuminating lighthouses and buoys."
