Sir James Chadwick papers, 1914-1974.
Contains materials relating to Chadwick's work in the Department of Physics of the University of Cambridge including his Cavendish Laboratory notebooks from 1925-1955 (and also those of Ernest Rutherford, 1924-1926) and papers and correspondence with fellow scientists and scientific bodies on a wide range of topics from international scientific co-operation to higher technical education and detailed discussions of specific research projects. The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority has designated the Churchill Archives the place of deposit for the official papers relating to Chadwick's work on atomic energy (the wartime Tube Alloys project) and this material is included in the collection.
