John R. Lamarsh (1928-1981) a nuclear physicist and educator. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics (1952) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His academic appointments included Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Kentucky (1953-1954); Assistant Professor of Physics at New York University (1956-1957); Assistant Professor of Engineering Physics at Cornell (1957-1962); Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering (1962-1966); Professor of Nuclear Engineering (1966-1973), and Director of Nuclear Engineering Program at New York University (1962-1973); Professor and head of Department of Nuclear Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York (1973-1981); and Adjunct Professor of Environmental Medicine at the New York University Medical Center (1973-1981).
