The collection contains diaries and personal papers from 1890 onwards, Meitner's scientific notebooks from 1913 and offprints of articles from 1904, but the principle interest of the collection lies in the voluminous correspondence Meitner kept up with scientists all over the world, many of whom, like her, were exiles from Germany, which provides a wealth of detailed information on their various research projects. There are also photographs, many of them taken at scientific gatherings.
