This collection consists of Edward Tober's correspondence, administrative files, circulation promotions and other promotional material, such as brochures and mailings, from his time as promotion manager in the Advertising division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). There are files for a majority of AIP's journals, especially their translation journals associated with Soviet Physics.

The advertising division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP) is in charge of journal promotion, selling advertising space, and exhibits at conferences and expositions.
This collection consists of Edward Tober's correspondence, administrative files, circulation promotions and other promotional material, such as brochures and mailings, from his time as promotion manager in the Advertising division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). There are files for a majority of AIP's journals, especially their translation journals associated with Soviet Physics.
In series I, the correspondence is arranged chronologically. Series II is arranged alphabetically by folder title and covers information such as publishing operations manuals, journal memberships, and publication trends and rates. Series III covers all folders marked as circulation promotion materials and are arranged alphabetically with general folders at the beginning of the series. And Series IV contains all other folders in the collection which include brochures, mailings, and associated correspondence. These are arranged alphabetically by folder title and then chronologically if folders have the same title or are regarding the same journal.
