Engineer and western pioneer. After being educated at Park College (Missouri) and the University of Missouri, he settled on a ranch in Colorado, and later taught physics, calculus, and engineering at Wisconsin State School of Mines.
This collection of papers includes a bound volume of Richard's extensive handwritten notes and lab reports from a physics course taught by Oscar M. Stewart at the University of Missouri; handwritten course notes from "Kinetic Theory of Gases" taught by L. R. Ingersoll at the University of Wisconsin in 1928; and a volume of Richard's poetry with biographical notes compiled by his son, Hugh T. Richards.
