The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) is a professional organization devoted to enhancing the understanding and appreciation of physics education through teaching at all levels. Its membership of 11,000 includes teachers and physicists at the secondary, two-year college, and college/university levels. Major activities include the AAPT Announcer, the American Journal of Physics, The Physics Teacher, two national meetings, topical conferences, faculty and teacher workshops, and working closely with government and private groups interested in science education.
Bernard Khoury served as AAPT Executive Officer from July 1990 to September 2006. In his time as Executive Officer, he oversaw several projects including the formation of the American Center for Physics, the hosting of the International Physics Olympiad by the United States in 1993, the beginning and maturation of New Faculty Workshops, the accumulation of a significant financial reserve, and the sale of the Homer L. Dodge Building in College Park, Maryland.
Dr. Khoury has extensive experiences in university administration, academic affairs, academic planning, science and public policy, and physics education. His professional experience before coming to the AAPT includes serving as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Policy and Planning and the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Maryland System, Executive Director for the Graduate Record Examinations Program of the Educational Testing Service, Associate Executive Secretary for the Association of American Universities, and Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Maryland.

In addition to the official meeting packets distributed by AAPT, this collection contains separate files kept by Khoury containing his personal notes on the meetings that he attended. This collection also includes a set of binders kept by Khoury, titled "Board Books."
