This portion of the Benedict papers consists of notes taken by Benedict during his graduate studies at Harvard University. Benedict was a University of Texas at Austin professor of applied mathematics and astronomy and University President. The notes are of courses by M. Bc̥her on differential equations and number theory, W. E. Byerly on the mechanics of rigid bodies, Asaph Hall on celestial mechanics and the theory of planetary motions, W. F. Osgood on the theory of functions, and B. O. Peirce on hydrostatics.
