Vladimir Arkadev papers.
Scientific manuscripts, 1919-1952, on such topics as magnetism, electromagnetic theory, properties of metals, electrotechnics, and more general subjects. Papers reflect Arkad'ev's days at the Physics Research Institute of Moscow University and the J. C. Maxwell Electromagnetic Laboratory, 1919-1953; his activities at Shaniavskiy University, 1911-1918; World War I military work; congresses of Russian physicists during the 1920s; and accounts of his work for the Academy of Sciences in the 1940s. Collection also includes lecture notes and reprints of all his papers. Personal documents include recollections, an autobiography, diplomas, and photographs of Moscow physicists. Among the correspondents, 1899-1953 (375 folders), are: O. Auwers, Max Born, A. F. Ioffe, Petr Kapitsa, O. D. Khvolson, G. Mie, K. Scheel, P. Weiss. Also includes the papers of Arkadev's wife, a physicist, A. A. Glagoleva-Arkad'eva, 1884-1945 (65 folders).
