International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation
International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation records, 1961-1982.
Bulletins; minutes; newsletters; membership lists; ballots for officers. The bulk of the collection consists of the BULLETIN (1962-1969) published by the Committee on General Relativity and Gravitation. It contains lists of publications on general relativity and gravitation, short reports on international conferences, and names and addresses of scientists working in the field. Also included are minutes and newsletters (1961-1982) concerning the meetings and activities of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation.
The Committee on General Relativity and Gravitation (Comit ̌Gravitation et Relativit)̌ was founded in 1959 in Paris at the Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation in order to coordinate collaboration in scientific work in the field, organize international conferences, and promote information useful to all interested in the field. Bulletin publication began in 1962. With the adoption of a constitution in 1973, the name became the International Society for General Relativity and Gravitation.
