Research Corporation
Research Corporation records, 1919-1949.
The collection includes extensive files on F. G. Cottrell, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, the Western Precipitation Corporation, the Williams-Waterman Fund, and files on early radar developments (Vannevar Bush, K. T. Compton, etc.). There are unpublished "Reports on Research Projects" for the period 1934-1938; these booklets, illustrated with photographs, have a high percentage of reports on nuclear physics. The office also retains separtely a full set of bound minutes of the Board of Directors from 1912.
A nonprofit foundation, now of Tucson, Arizona, the Research Corporation was incorporated in New York in 1912. Its purpose is to advance academic science and technology. It supports basic research in the natural and physical sciences and encourages the practical application of new discoveries.
