Primarily materials relating to Akeley's interests apart from physics such as essays on philosophy of education, democracy, and the role of the church; and graded lessons completed by Akeley for several correspondence courses in philosophy. Also includes a few letters (Joseph Meyers and Scudder Klyce) and some biographical pamphlets and newspapers clippings.
Member of the original faculty of the University and professor of physics and chemistry, 1887-1908, dean of the College of Engineering, 1908-1933, and thereafter part-time lecturer in philosophy at the University of South Dakota.
