The biographical file includes several reprints of his articles, biographical materials, and photographs. It also includes many manuscripts (incl. an unpublished report by H. Fizeau on Janssen's work) and letters from Janssen to Dumas (in particular relating to his observation of the Venus Transit in Japan in 1874).
Astrophysicist, member of the Acadm̌ie des Sciences and the Bureau des Longitudes, founded the Physical Astronomy Observatory of Meudon, France. His work was mainly concerned with the application of spectroscopy and photography in astronomy.
