Walter Baade papers, 1915-1960.
This collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, notes, and working papers from Walter Baade's years in GtĖ˛tingen and Munich (1915-1931) and his time as astronomer at the Mt. Wilson and Palomar Observatories (1931-1958). The collection also includes lectures that Baade gave in the 1950s, including the period after his retirement in 1958.
Wilhelm Heinrich Walter Baade (1893-1960), German astronomer who emigrated to the USA in 1931. Ph.D., astronomy, Gottingen. Baade worked in many roles at the Hamburg Observatory until 1931, when he joined the staff of the Mt. Wilson Observatory. Baade worked at the Mt. Wilson and Palomar Observatories until his retirement in 1956.
