Church's personal and professional correspondence to and from people and organizations connected with snow surveying, notes, reports, manuscripts (published and unpublished); also personal mementos, diaries, maps and artifacts. Also included is Florence Humphrey Church's correspondence with the Nevada Federation of Women's Clubs.
University of Nevada-Reno professor of classics; founder and developer of snow surveying which measured the water content of snow as well as its depth. Beginning in 1905 he developed the Mount Rose Snow Sampler which made scientific study of snow possible; also the "Nevada System" or percentage system of forecasting runoff from snow.
