Collection includes material concerning the MIT "Charm School", the women who gathered together during summer terms to work with George Harrison in the spectroscopy lab on compiling the Wave Length Tables; biographical information; an oral history transcript done by the American Institute of Physics; and correspondence with Katharine Dexter McCormick and James Rhyne Killian Jr.
Dorothy Walcott Weeks, 1893?-1990, B.A. 1916, Wellesley College; M.S. in physics, 1923, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; M.S. 1925, Simmons College; Ph.D. in mathematics, 1930, MIT, was a professor and head of the physics department at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., from 1930 to 1956. From 1956-1964 she worked at the Army Materials Research Agency in Watertown, Mass., where she coordinated a program that developed radiological shielding materials; she was a spectroscopist at the Harvard College Observatory from 1964-1976.
