Spencer, Donald Jay
Donald Jay Spencer response to Laser History Project Survey, 1977-1985.
Three manuscripts entitled: "My Secular Accomplishments and Spiritual Insights, Director's Lecture LDS Instiutte of Religion at U.S.C., 13 May, 1977," "Comments on Records of Chemical Laser Experiments, 6 February 1985," and "Conversation with Dr. Donald J. Spencer" written specifically for the Laser History Project. The first document describes in some depth Spencer's research at Aerospace Corporation, including the first conclusive test of chemical lasers and attributes his accomplishments to strong Mormon faith. The second document describes much the same thing in more technical detail, discussing the work of Terry Cool at Cornell University, Rolf Gross, Don Curran, Ted Jacobs and others. The third document discusses the origins and development of the HF laser, with Abraham Hertzberg, Peter Briesacher and AVCO researchers. File also includes a curriculum vitae.
