Pugh, Emerson M.
Wyoming scientist: Horses to space ships (with Ruth Edgin), 1977.
One third of the memoir is devoted to Pugh's family history and childhood in Ogden, Utah. The remaining manuscript describes his college years at Carnegie Institute of Technology (1914-1918), his M.S. studies during 1927, his Ph.D. in physics at California Institute of Technology (1929), and his career at Carnegie Institute of Technology from 1931. Subjects discussed include his scientific life and interests, World War II work with mine detection and conical-shaped charges, and his travels and committee work interspersed with incidents in his personal life. File includes a six-page bibliography.
Pugh was born in 1896; died in 1981.
