Responses to a questionnaire prepared by Spencer Weart of the American institute of Physics and members of the International Project in the History of Solid State Physics. Kittel discusses his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University, and University of Wisconsin; his work at Naval Ordnance Laboratory, Bell Laboratories, and the University of California, Berkeley, especially on ferromagnetism; comments on interactions with many other solid state physicists; and describes his World War II work with the Submarine Operations Research Group (SORG). The post-1960 period is only briefly mentioned. File also includes various documents relating to Kittel and a bibliography.
