Kerwin, Larkin.
Larkin Kerwin papers, 1934-1991.
Papers include correspondence, manuscripts of scientific papers and speeches, and files relating to Kerwin's activities in numerous organizations, notably the Canadian Association of Physicists, the Royal Society of Canada, the National Research Council of Canada, the California Institute of Technology, the Davy Faraday Research laboratory, the National Physical Laboratory, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. These papers document Kerwin's contribution to the organizations and associational development of the physics community as well as Kerwin's contribution to science policy and understanding of science by the general population.
Physicist (atomic and molecular physics). Born 1924. Completed doctorate in physics at Universit ̌Laval in 1949 under Franco Rasetti, Paul Koenig, and Enrico Persico. Full professor at Laval from 1956; also successively director of the Research Laboratory on Mass Spectrometry, director of the Dept. of Physics, director of the Van de Graaff Accelerator, assistant dean of the Faculty of Sciences, assistant rector for Teaching and Research, and, from 1972 to 1977, rector of the University. Held presidency or other executive positions in numerous organizations including the Canadian Association of Physicists, the National Research Council of Canada, the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and the Canadian Space Agency.
