Interview focuses on Pakiser's training at the Colorado School of Mines, his career in geology and seismology with emphasis on his crustal studies in the 1960s. During this period Pakiser headed the crustal studies branch of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and contributed to the Department of Defense's "Project Vela Uniform," which aimed at the improvement of seismic detection capabilites.
