Franȯis Joseph Jřm̥e Nickls̈ correspondence, 1848-1869.
Correspondence of a prominent nineteenth century French chemist, pharmacist and teacher; including over 1,000 letters to and from fellow scientists documenting his work and scientific interests in the fields of pharmacy, physics, and metallurgy. Prominent correspondents include Pierre-Dominique Bazaine, Henri-Fe ix Boudet, Henri Buignet, Jules-Maria Augustin Chautard, C. Decharmes, Jean Baptiste Dumas, Amed ̌̌Ge is, F. Kauffmann, Mathieu Laurent, Auguste Millon, Napolen̤ Nickle , Louis Pasteur, and Emile Reuss.
Nickle began his scientific career as an apprentice pharmacist in 1840 and went on to study medicine in 1844 and to teach chemistry. In 1854 Nickle was appointed to the Facultedš Sciences, where he remained until his death in 1869. Nickle spent his career researching and publishing in the fields of pharmacy, water chemistry, electromagnetism, and metallurgy.
