Lukirsky, Petr Ivanovich, 1894-1954.
Petr I. Lukirsky papers, 1914-1964.
Includes: 1) Manuscripts of published as well as of unpublished works on physics of cosmic rays: drafts and preparatory writings to four lectures: "Osnovnye svojstva kosmicheskikh luchej" ("Main Properties of Cosmic Rays"), 1952-1954, "Radoty na kosmotrone" ("Operations on Cosmotron"), 1954, "Opyt po issledovaniiu elektricheskikh svojstv molekuliarnykh sloev" ("Essay on the Exploration of the Electronic Properties of Molecular Layers"), 1929-1932. 2) Preparatory writings to the lectures of 1937 in the Leningrad State University on the subject "Stroenie veshchestva. Otdel III. Fizika iadra" ("The Structure of Matter. Part III. Physics of Atomic Nucleus"); uncompleted manuscripts of handbooks for students "Elektrostatika" ("Electrostatics"), "Tablitsa dlia rasscheta magnitnogo polia katushki" ("A Table for Calculations of Magnetic Fields of Coil") and "Sistema elementov Dmitriia Ivanovicha Mendeleeva" ("The Periodical Mendeleev System"). 3) Writings on the photoeffect: "O fotoeffekte" ("On the Photoeffect,") 1933; "Fotoelementy s bol hoj selektivnoj chuvstvitel ostù•" ("Photoelements with high selective sensibility"), with N. N. Lushina, 1937. Here there is also a correspondence with the Patent Department of the Standardization Administration of the Minister Council of the USSR related to reception of the patent on the invention of stibial caesial cathode. 4) The patent on the invention of the electronic lamp and device to measure the sizes of grains in unsovable powders (with M. S. Kosman, 1928, 1932). 5) Biographical materials including autobiography (enclosed with the list of publications after 1945), official questionnaire, list of research made with Lukirsky or under his leadership (1964), and an article by A. N. Murin "Akademik Petr Ivanovich Lukirskij. Kratkaia biografiia i ocherk nauchnoj deiatel osti" ("Academician Lukirsky. Short Biography and essay on his scientific activity"), 1954; photos where Lukirsky is depicted both alone and with K. K. Baumgart, A. F. Ioffe, P. L. Kapitsa, A. A. Lebedev, K. F. Nestrukh, D. S. Rozhdestvenskij, N. N. Semenov, A. V. Ulitovskij, V. A. Fok, V. K. Fredericks, IA. I. Frenkel, and others.
