AIP Physics Programs Division Lewis Slack records, 1968-1988.
The bulk of the collection is comprised of correspondence files, containing Slack's communication with the various divisions of Physics Resources, the AIP Publications division, AIP Member Societies, and with other scientific organizations such as the National Science Foundation. Many files pertain to Slack's involvement with the AIP Education Division and the Society of Physics Students, during his years as Director for Education Services. The collection also contains files pertaining to the AIP Committee on Physics and Society (COMPAS), and the AIP Committee for Public Policy (CPP). Much of this material is correspondence relating to science education, public understanding of science, and the effects of world events and society on physics education. Also included in this collection are lecture notes and technical reports collected by Lewis Slack, including notes from lectures by Julian Schwinger and Eugene Feenburg, and reports drafted by General Atomic.
