The collection documents the Nobel prize related activities and materials of Amherst alumnus and M.I.T Professor Henry Way Kendall, spanning his receiving of the Physics award in 1990 to his death in 1999. The collection includes programs, certificates, logistics and travel ephemera from Kendalls participation in the Nobel Prize Ceremony and the 1991 Jubilee Week; photos of Kendall and his colleagues, friends and family; publications and clippings; lecture transparencies; Nobel prize related books and VHS tapes of the 1990 Nobel Ceremony and The Great Nobel Debate.
American particle physicist. Ph.D. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1955). Professional experience includes: research associate, from lecturer to assistant professor, Stanford University (1956-1961); National Science Foundation fellow, from assistant professor to J. A. Shatton professor of physics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1954-1956, 1961-1999).
