Glusker, Jenny Pickworth
Jenny Pickworth Glusker papers, 1947-2003.
The papers of Jenny Pickworth Glusker include her lab books and dissertation from undergraduate and graduate work at Somerville College, University of Oxford, England. She did her graduate work with Dorothy Hodgkin, and learned how the architecture of molecules can be determined by analysis of the diffraction patterns produced by X-ray crystallography. Dr. Glusker's graduate work contributed to the establishment of the chemical formula of vitamin B12. The collection is divided into eight series: Series I includes correspondence between scientists for the publication of Structural Crystallography in Chemistry and Biology, Benchmark papers in physical chemistry and chemical physics. Volume 4. Edited by Jenny P. Glusker. Series II includes lab books and her dissertation. Series III includes manuscripts of works by scientists published in Crystallography in North America, edited by McLachlan, Jr. and Glusker. Series VIII is a complete record of the planning for the Eighth International Congress of Crystallography held at State University of New York at Stony Brook, Long Island, New York, 1969.
British biochemist and crystallographer. Ph.D (1957) from the University of Oxford. After completing post-doctoral work at CalTech, Glusker spent the majority of her career at the Institute for Cancer Research, which was later renamed the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
