The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) records contain materials that document UCAR and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). The collection traces the founding of UCAR from an idea to the birth of a national center. It also documents the merger of the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) with NCAR, the international scope of UCAR/NCAR, the relationship between UCAR and Member Universities, and the relationship of UCAR and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
UCAR is a nonprofit consortium of more than 120 North American colleges and universities focused on research and training in Earth system science. It manages the National Center for Atmospheric Research for the National Science Foundation.
