Malina, Frank J.
Marjorie Malina collection, 1936-1997 (bulk 1936-1945).
The collection consists of photographs and rocket motor diagrams with associated correspondence sent to John Bluth, JPL Archivist, by Marjorie Duckworth Malina, Frank Malina's second wife, on June 10, 1997. Included are 18 photographs and 8 diagrams of early JPL projects from 1936-1945, with two letters from 1997.
Frank J. Malina (1912-1981), aerospace engineer and rocketry pioneer, co-founded the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at California Institute of Technology (GALCIT) Rocket Research Project, later re- named the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and served as JPL Director from 1944-46. He married Marjorie Duckworth Malina in 1949.
