William B. White papers, 1956-1990.
This collection contains many of Dr. White's article reprints from 1956 to 1990. Research interests include: electronic properties of materials, luminescence of phosphors and minerals in solid state physics, chalcogenide materials in solid state chemistry, materials characterization and glass science in materials science, aqueus geochemistry, geomorphology, hydrology and hydrogeology in the geological sciences.
William B. White received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Juniata College in 1954. After four years at the Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh, he entered Penn State and received a Ph.D. in geochemistry in 1962. He began his Penn State career as a research associate, then was an assistant professor from 1963 to 1967, an associate professor from 1967 to 1972, and a full professor beginning in 1972. He is a member of several geoscience and material sciences professional organizations and received the Wilson Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1974.
