Cornell University Physical Sciences Library records, 1936-1965.
This collection consists of typewritten reports and correspondence concerning the Chemistry Department Library and the Physics Library, and planning for the new Physical Sciences Library. Correspondents include Stephen A. McCarthy, Giles F. Shepherd, R.L. Sproull, Mary Thomas, and Arthur C. Kulp, among others.
Before 1965, the Chemistry Department at Cornell had its own library in Baker Laboratory, and the Physics Library was a separate unit in Rockefeller Hall, focusing on astronomy and physics. In the summer of 1965, the two collections were integrated and moved into the new Clark Hall, becoming the foundation for the Physical Sciences Library.
