Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (U.S.). Office of Science Education records, 1980s-present.
This collection consists of compact disks made of various presentations between 1990-2004 from the Science Education Series. Also included are disks of the presentations on television channel 47, Newport News Public Schools. The television disks are interfiled with the Education Series based upon the topic. The collection is considered a living collection, therefore has regular additions. Presently, the collections consists of compact disks and programs from Science Bowls. Recently accessioned are also t-shirts generously donated by Cynthia Lockwood.
The Office of Science Education is an outreach program to get children interested in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions. Through a practical and engaging approach to explaining concepts, the Office of Science Education reaches the community as a whole to not only help the public understand what happens at Jefferson Lab, but how higher sciences and physics applies in their everyday lives.
