This collections houses oral histories (and those transcripts), as well as artifacts and documentation that traces the history of the founding of the Jefferson Lab and its predecessor, the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility, from its inception to the present day. The Jefferson Laboratory of the College of William and Mary is located in Newport News, Virginia and is home to the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, an underground high-tech machine nearly a mile around. Before being renamed in 1996, the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility was known as the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF).
