This collection consists primary of correspondence between Dr. von Baeyer and various members of Congress (including Herbert Bateman, Chuck Robb, and William Whitehurst) between 1979-1984 during his directorship of the Virginia Associated Research campus, arranging for visits to the VARC and discussing budgets and the possibility of bringing the Department of Energy's new accelerator to Newport News, Virginia.
American physicist. Ph.D., Vanderbilt University (1964). Chancellor Professor of Physics, Emeritus at the College of William & Mary, where he taught for approximately 36 years. A key member of the Virginia Associated Research Campus in Newport News, Virginia during the inception of the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF).
