The South Atlantic Coast Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers included individuals from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia committed to advancing the teaching of physics. These records include correspondence, meeting minutes, membership lists, handbooks, constitution and by-laws, and other miscellaneous organizational papers.
The South Atlantic Coast Section (SACS) of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) was organized on April 7, 1973, and included members from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Within the group's constitution, three primary objectives were mandated: to advance the teaching of physics, to further the appreciation of physics in our culture, and to enhance effective communication among those concerned with the teaching of physics at all levels.
