John W. Williams papers, 1928-1977.
Boxes 1-4 contain correspondence (1928-1977) including a large file with The Svedburg, the Swedish designer of the ultracentrifuge. Boxes 4-5 contain subject files; of particular interest are the Colloid Symposiums held in Madison in 1956 and 1966, the Committee on Medical Research, 1942-1955, National Science Foundation supported grants, and the Sedimentation materials.
Attended the University of Wisconsin, Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry, 1925. Elected to the National Academy of Science in 1952. Conducted research at the Ultracentrigfuge Laboratory dealing with sedimentation analysis of biological macromolecules and gamma globulin antibodies separated by large scale fractionation of human blood plasma.
